A New i'Mpossible Project Book on Survivors of Abuse

Writing Guidelines
Why You Should Write For
The i'Mpossible Project
Josh Rivedal of The i'Mpossible Project and Matt Pappas of Surviving My Past are looking for writers for The i'Mpossible Project's newest book on survivors of abuse (physical, sexual, emotional, neglect etc.). This book will feature regular folks who share a personal story on when they overcame the oft tremendous odds of surviving abuse. Everyone has a powerful story to tell and something to teach the world—let us learn from you! (See below the guidelines to learn about the inspiration for The i'Mpossible Project). This next edition of The i'Mpossible Project will be published in 2019 as part of a compilation book The i'Mpossible Project, Vol. 3 (Vol 1 was published in January 2016 and Vol. 2 was published in August 2017) .

Writer Guidelines:
Your story must be about you. What did you learn, how has it changed your life, and what can the reader take away?

The fine-ish print:
  • It should be no more than 1000 words.
  • The piece must be credited to you. Anonymous pieces will be accepted at the discretion of Matt and Josh.
  • Short paragraphs and some bullet points are welcome.
  • Minimal foul language in your piece.
  • Your piece can’t be overly promotional—it’s a story.
  • You can have outgoing links in the text, but not if they lead to spam. You can, at most, use 10 outgoing links (preferably all in your bio).
  • Your piece can’t promote a religion or religious domination. However, you can write about your faith and how it’s impacted your life.
  • You may repost your own content on your site, blog, or on someone else’s website or blog as long as it’s properly attributed (and linked to) as having appeared in this book.
  • The piece must include a title.
  • Please send over a maximum 100 word bio written in the third person.
  • Submissions are due October 1, 2018.
  • Send inquiries and stories (in a Word Doc or a .Pages file) with the subject line "i'MPossible Project Story Submission" to: josh@iampossibleproject.com or beyondyourpast@gmail.com
For several years, I (Josh) have been telling my personal story through memoir Kicking My Blue Genes in the Butt (formerly The Gospel According to Josh: A 28-Year Gentile Bar Mitzvah) based on my 30 character, 1-man play of the same name—which I've toured all over the world—and people were getting help.
After nearly every show, incredible people, complete strangers who felt voiceless and worthless yet who were outstanding people confided in me powerful, personal stories of how they’ve overcome tremendous odds in their lives. These stories not only changed my life for the better but the life of the storyteller as well.
At one point or another in our lives, I, along with those storytellers took a chance on themselves and said “I am possible.”
You can help others with your powerful story—everybody has one and it’s your turn to tell yours.
